Description
The Completions Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and operational execution of completions activities. The Completions Engineer will work alongside the resource team to identify breakthrough completion parameters, novel technologies, troubleshoot the design for any improvements, provide engineering support, and supply chain management support for geothermal well work. All while ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, legal, and environmentally responsible and effective manner.
Requirements
- Develop step-by-step completion procedures to achieve specified well objectives. Documents all well design changes using MOC process
- Full understanding of, and active participation in, HSE Program; Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable regulations and Fervo HSE training requirements and policies
- Develop completion cost estimates ranging from simple scoping estimates to probabilistic cost estimates and work with the drilling team to ensure the complete well estimate reflects the completion component
- Provides technical support on daily completion activities and is the primary contact for field engineering issues
- Supports cross-functional field development optimization efforts through well planning and design optimization
- Compile technical and operations data for permitting and all other regulatory filings
- Lead after-action reviews to identify best practices and lessons learned, provides internal and external benchmarking and end of project reports. Leads the joint review with the operations team
- Responsible for preparing tenders, analyzing vendor response, and administering assigned contracts
- Proficiency in working alongside reservoir engineers to simulate fracture designs using ResFrac or other Industry leading simulators
- Able to build relationship with drilling, workover, and surface facility personnel (Engineering and Operations) to effectively coordinate and provide support during business-critical needs
- Travel to the field frequently to oversee operations, foster strong working relationship with the field personnel, and 3rd party providers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in unconventional drilling/completions operations
- Experience evaluations completion efficiency, technology applications around stimulation design, and field exposure to different types of completion operations
- Comprehensive understanding in conduction hydraulic stimulation to stimulate geometry, conductivity, proppant placement for design and post-operation analysis
- Proficiency with industry leading stimulation modeling software suite (Resfrac, Kinetix, Gohfer, ect.)
- Risk management skills, including knowledge of Risk Assessment and Management of Change (MOC)
- Contractor performance management; analytical and problem-solving capabilities; written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to field locations
