Transmission & Interconnection Analyst

The Transmission & Interconnection Analyst will be responsible for supporting the management of the interconnection and transmission process, analyzing, tracking and supporting project development projects, and reporting on electric market activity.

Description

The Transmission & Interconnection Analyst will be responsible for supporting the management of the interconnection and transmission process, analyzing, tracking and supporting project development projects, and reporting on electric market activity. This role will serve as an integral member of the Transmission & Interconnection Team which provides business development, strategic system analysis and modeling support for the interconnection of utility-scale geothermal projects within designated regions of North America (Primarily in the WECC). This position reports to the Interconnection Director.   

Requirements

  • Keep up with all major Transmission & Interconnection items going on in the assigned market including but not limited to: OASIS updates; overall Transmission Planning & Interconnection processes; Subject matter expert (“SME”) on Open Access Transmission Tariff (“OATT”) issues
  • Coordinate overall project strategy of projects with supervisor; identify project risks and maintain real time communications with Project Developers assigned to their projects
  • Submit and track progress and milestones of utility interconnection and incentive applications to successfully navigate complex processes and secure approvals
  • Identify locations for points of interconnection and generation tie line routing for projects in the development pipeline
  • Secure internal approvals for submission of interconnection application fees deposits
  • Review Facilities Studies and System Impact Studies, report results
  • Create meeting minutes for ALL meetings with outside entities and archive
  • Support technical and legal review of various interconnection and transmission issues
  • Coordination with technical SMEs (Engineering, Procurement and Construction & General Contractor)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience related to generation, transmission, or marketing of electricity
  • Bachelors’ Degree in economics, engineering, or related preferred
  • Experience related to negotiating, implementing, or administering electric power grid industry contracts, including engineering, legal, and/or business experience
  • Understanding of technical electric industry concepts and an ability to express such concepts in a non-technical manner is preferred
  • Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic corporate organization under pressure of tight deadlines and high expectations
  • Experience with ISO markets, scheduling, operations, contracts or ISO Tariff provisions, pro forma and non pro forma contracts
  • Experience or knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to the electric power grid industry
  • Hands-on-experience or solid understanding of transmission topology
  • Thorough understanding of Western energy markets, including, but not limited to: supply and demand, logistics, regulations and operations
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced dynamic commodity market environment
