Workover Engineer

The Workover Engineer is responsible for managing all workover activities at Fervo Energy’s geothermal projects.

Decarbonizing the energy sector is an urgent challenge, and with the right technology, geothermal energy can play a central role. We are expanding our team to help make this vision a reality.  Fervo Energy has developed technology to make geothermal power scalable and cost-effective. Join us and work alongside world-class engineers, researchers, investors, and developers in making geothermal a key pillar of our climate-friendly energy future.

The Workover Engineer is responsible for managing all workover activities at Fervo Energy’s geothermal projects. This role will provide engineering solutions for remediation/well problems, operational planning and execution of activities, downhole tool troubleshooting, and supply chain management support. This position will report to the Sr. Manager – Completions & Operations.

  • Develop step-by-step procedures to achieve specified well objectives in full compliance with Fervo Energy’s policies and all regulatory requirements
  • Documents all well design changes using Fervo Energy’s management of change processes
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices for workover activities
  • Develop workover, fishing, and general construction cost estimates ranging from simple scoping estimates to probabilistic cost estimates and work with the drilling and completion engineers to ensure the complete well estimate reflects the workover component
  • Monitors daily morning reports and facilitates data error corrections and coding. Primary responsibility for well file population and management for assigned wells
  • Lead After-Action reviews to identify best practices and lessons learned, and provide internal and external benchmarking and end-of-project reports; Leads the joint review with the operations team
  • Develop and monitor KPI reporting of workover and coiled tubing unit operations with respect to spending, delivery of planned objectives, and scheduling (planned vs actuals)
  • Develop improvement plans if KPI targets are not met
  • Manage contract execution and contractor continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the supply chain team to source equipment and services; assist with timely procurement of material and equipment; review and approve invoices for accuracy
